Routine

How time flies, its December! It was wonderful connecting with all the mommies and daddies at parent teacher interviews, I Thank you all for taking the time to see us.

It seems everybody was wondering about how our day progress and the little songs we sing.

Our days typically start with ten minutes at the carpet. We sing a little song
Teacher sings - "I'm glad you came today, I'm glad you came today - Hello to everyone , I'm glad you came today"
Kids sing - "We're glad we came today, we're glad we came today - Hello to everyone , we're glad we came today"
Everyone sings - "We'll work and play today, we'll work and play today - Hello to everyone we'll work and play today"

I then greet all the children saying "Good morning/afternoon (your childs name) and I am so happy to report that ALL the children now greet me by saying good morning/afternoon Miss Tess, we then all greet Miss Maria.

We talk about what day it is, I tell them that there are 7 days in a week and to show me what 7 looks like holding up one hand with 5 fingers and the 2nd hand with 2 fingers.
We sing the days of the weeks song - There are 7 days, there are 7 days, there are 7 days in a week - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and repeat this twice.
We talk about what month of the year it is, we concentrate on the sylabils in the work, by clapping - De-cem-ber and then sing a little song naming all the months January through December followed by there are 12 months in a year!

We speak about the weather and the seasons, and then we introduce the sound and sound picture of the week. We also review the sounds and sound pictures already learned.

The children are then dismissed to start their work cycle, which lasts until 10h30am or 2h15pm.

In our next blog we'll discuss the rest of our day and songs.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful festive season and a very Merry Christmas.
From my heart to yours,
Tess
